Lab Posture Basics
Adjust your stool to support legs and back while working
Pull under workstation as much as possible to increase back support and decrease reaching
Clear out leg space underneath the bench so that you can sit close to your work
Alternate between sitting and standing to decrease pressure on lower back
Work at elbow height and try not to lift arms above shoulder height
Move all items within arm’s length to prevent extended reaching and twisting
Rotate tasks and take frequent breaks
