Lab Ergo

Discover ergonomic principles specific to laboratory environments. From pipetting to microscopy, learn how posture, positioning, and task rotation can improve comfort and accuracy during repetitive lab work.

Microscope Postures

  • Adjust height of stool so that arms are in a neutral posture and pull stool close to work bench
  • Keep elbows close to your side and wrists in straight position
  • Reduce contact force on arms by using padding
  • Position microscope close to you and adjust height of eye piece to minimize neck bending
  • Take frequent breaks and allow your eyes to focus on something in the distance
